Higher upfront cost than home-store consumer lights (typically 2-3x the per-string price) but the per-season cost works out lower because consumer strings typically last 1-2 seasons before noticeable colour shift or string failure.
Client-supplied is the flexibility option. Bring your own strings sourced from anywhere — retail, specialty Christmas-light shops, custom commissioned. We install them at the same labour rate, no markup on lights you supply. Common client-supplied scenarios: very specific colour theme that we don't stock, premium specialty lights with built-in animation, family heirloom lights that have sentimental value, lights bought wholesale through a contractor connection. The choice matters most year one — Hartford-supplied lights become a multi-season investment, client-supplied lights work as one-season specials or for clients with specific preferences.
